Splitting a Movie In this lesson we will split a commercially produced movie trailer into MPEG-1 files small enough to write to a floppy disk. The original source movie was the Ocean's Twelve trailer in DivX format but we converted it to MPEG-1 by saving all frames in order to make it smaller for this tutorial and available to those who may not have the DivX codec installed. Converting it also gives us an index to use in determining how many pieces we need. You can download the source by right clicking on the link below and selecting Save target as... from the popup menu. Our source file size is 24.57 MB so cutting it into 24 pieces of the same format should create files small enough to fit on a 1.4 MB floppy disk.
We will save to the same folder as the original source file and will name all files using the root file name OceansTwelve with an underscore and the clip number appended.
Our output is set to duplicate the properties of the source file.
The files produced vary slightly in size, but each is small enough to fit on a floppy disk.
